Moving from kitchen printers to screens without chaos

Kitchens that switch cold turkey struggle for a day or two. The low-drama path is to run printers and screens together, then remove the printers once the crew trusts the screens.

Week 1: both

• Connect Square and set up stations that mirror your printer profiles.
• Place a tablet next to each printer. Cooks keep working from paper while glancing at the screen.
• Have the expo bump tickets on the All items view at the end of each order so the Done list matches what went out.

Week 2: screens first

• Cooks bump their own station's part of each ticket. Expo closes tickets.
• Turn on the sound alerts and adjust the yellow and red timers to your target ticket times.

Week 3: printers off

Disable the kitchen printer profile in Square. Keep one receipt printer for guests. You are done.
