ExpoKDS started in a sushi and hand-roll kitchen that outgrew its ticket printer and did not want to pay per screen for hardware that only worked with one POS.
Kitchen displays used to be hardware products. A vendor sold you screens, mounts, and cables, and charged monthly for each one. The screens did one thing and worked with one POS. When one broke on a Friday, you went back to paper.
We think a kitchen display is software. Restaurants already own tablets. Square already exposes every order in real time. What was missing was a well-built web app that treats a browser tab as a first-class kitchen screen: instant, reliable under bad Wi-Fi, and honest about edits, voids, and open tickets.
That is ExpoKDS. It is used daily in real kitchens, and every feature on the features page came from a specific problem on a specific night.
Every feature is judged by whether it helps a cook on a Friday night. If it does not, it waits.
